The Hispanic community desperately needs to reclaim its values - we must return to the Lord and His Blessed Mother, Our Lady of Guadalupe, with all our heart. Only by doing so can we reclaim our families, our streets and our music. Our music glorifies violence, drug abuse, infidelity and bitterness.
We have made artists who sing about lusting after another man's wife millionaires ("Lastima que seas Ajena"), despite the fact that we learned in Basic Catechism - "You shall not desire your neighbor's wife." We listen to embittered and overweight dames from the "barrio" who wail on incessantly about men being "two-legged rats" when we know the Lord orders us to keep resentment for our neighbor out of our hearts.

Is it any wonder our streets our full of violence and trash and the land of our fathers is a grotesque war zone? Let's face it - our popular culture has become a load of crap as huge and unmanageable as those that can be found on Sixth Street and Bonnie Brae in the once fashionable Westlake District in L.A., which some would have re-baptized as "Little Central America".

No problem, let's call it that - but make it worthwhile. Why should this country's people want to have us here if we're capable only of contributing our worst and not our best to it? We know who and what we really are. We have produced great art, exquisite music and a cuisine second to none. We have inherited the Holy Catholic Faith which comes to us from the apostles through the selfless labors of mendicant friars who traversed hundreds of miles - at times walking barefoot - so that our ancestors might know and serve the One True God and His Only-Begotten Son Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Will their labors have been in vain?

Only we can answer that question.

3.¡en el rito nuevo! Cuando yo era chico, me aburría la música sacra. ¡Cual fue mi sorpresa que a los 27 años empiezo a profundizar mi espiritualidad, aprendo canto gregoriano y me da por cantar todos esos cantos que antes yo consideraba sentimentales y cursi! Lo digo porque desde hace mas de 25 años han pasado muchos grupos, movimientos y tendencias por nuestra iglesia, e.g. la renovación carismática, camino neocatecumenal, etc,

.2.La renovación carismática es hermosa, pero ya dio todo lo que pudo litúrgicamente hablando. Mi parroquia es una de las más antiguas de Los Ángeles y desde que tengo uso de razón se toca el órgano aquí, en parte porque en los 70 y 80 cuando otros lugares abandonaron el órgano, aquí prevaleció el buen juicio gracias a los párrocos Joseph Truxaw y Monseñor John Rawden. Aquí hubo misa en latín hasta 1983

1.Gracias a ti por tu amable comentario. A veces duele reconocer el estado real de las cosas, pero solo así se podrán mejorar. El estado actual de la música litúrgica entre los católicos hispanos es completamente pésimo. Se nos vendió una narrativa falsa en los últimos 30 y tantos años de que los latinos estábamos abandonando la Iglesia Católica porque la misa “aburría” y el culto evangélico era más emocionante. ¡No es cierto!

muchas gracias. son muy pocas las iglesias que usan el organo para las misas en español hoy en dia.
