(PART 2) A documentary on the Emerson String Quartet as they record the Octet in E-flat Major, op. 20 of Felix Mendelssohn---a feat both musically and technologically innovative in modern chamber music.

The album, MENDELSSOHN: THE COMPLETE STRING QUARTETS went on to win 2 Grammy Awards, including Best Chamber Music Performance and Best Engineered Album for producer Da-Hong Seetoo (featured).

  • Guys don't vote down amapparat for his/her opinion, especially for something as subjective as music.

    I kind of agree, Emerson is definitely on the cerebral end of the scale, but their records are definitely true to the intent of the music, even if they tend to lack in emotion.

    They are simply playing what is written, as well as possible. You can't fault them for that.
