Wood gas fan test

I've had several people tell me it's not a good thing to have a plastic fan under my wood gas stove, that if the fan stops it will melt right down. So I thought I would give the fan a heat test and so far so good, the fan didn't melt down.

I think this is a great video.Very informative and to the point.We are going to make 10 stoves with our boy scout troop for backpacking.Of all the videos on this subject this guy has been the most helpful.Keep up the good work.

which way is the fan blowing  up or down?

I got two computer fans, one a mini blower but it actually sucks where I want it to blow and the motor only turns one way, tried switching the wires, so to make it work I have to take it apart and flip the fan around. I don't think it will be enough CFM anyway. I made a blower with the other fan which is like yours in the vid, sort of worked but I think your way is going to work better. I'll try that in a little while. I like how it's so quiet + it's got 3 speeds $20

Good song! I saw that vid where they used an iFan as a blower so I used my heat gun on cool the same way + it works great. I like how the fan is separate + moving it can adjust the flame. However iFans are hard to find because of the Apple lawsuit against them. They were only $8 or so @ Walgreens! I can't find a fan/blower like it anywhere... Now I try to figure out how to make a cheap DC blower... maybe with a 3" fan like yours mounted to a can sideways with a small hole and pipe at bottom?
