Well Obama's changes are more just a step in the right direction. It will make insurance companies not be able to deny people like me- but not until 2014 when all of the provisions take effect . And it still wont regulate outrageous costs enough. It is a decent amount of improvements but people fought him so hard on it, they had to pass a bill that was just a tiny tiny baby step compared to what we need.

What is FACT the privatised commercially run US healthcare system costs at twice that of other advanced systems, does not cover everybody, one US citizen dies every 12min's because they lack insurance, 60%of all bankruptcies in the US are in someway heath cost related and it's still only rated 37th in overall care. You prefer private health insurance and then being denied care for the flimsiest of reasons? Hardly runaway inflation in the UK. The inflation rate in the UK is less than 1% greater than the USA and is inceasing at less than 0.3% than the USA, and for that they have free health care where everyone is equal.

@wtfjaftw A : you seem to be saying private insurance is OK because it employs people the fact those employees serve no purpose which for the most part they do not they simply add unnecessary costs to the customer. .

B: Taxing the rich ? You mean the poor are not taxed in the US from what I understand the way the US tax system works the poor pay a far higher proportion of their income in tax than the rich. If taxes were not paid everybody would be screwed.

@wtfjaftw I think governments just like private enterprise can waste money unlike private enterprise governments are open to public scrutiny and judgement of the people. I think that the US heath insurance industry costs the average US citizen a fortune but does not supply so much as a bandage to them is bizarre. I think the fact that out of 37 countries 36 have some sort of UHC and 36 cost half of the US system but the US is rated 37th. I know I also have choice in healthcare.

Here is an excerpt from the Internet: "As the health care debate heats up, the American Medical Association is letting Congress know that it will oppose creation of a government-sponsored insurance plan, which President Obama and many other Democrats see as an essential element of legislation to remake the health care system."
