auugh...this is lovely! I ADORE this song, and have it on my ipod...I really think that Irene came like a bomb to Holmes and made him realize that not all women were stupid and helpless...!

He didn't dislike women, he disliked love. Many crimes are committed out of passion, like many judgements on said men. He refused love so it wouldn't cloud his reason and deductive abilities.
I may sound like a know it all about him, but actually I just read "A Scandal in Bohemia" and all above was mentioned in the book and the study guides.
