@johnnynoirman Yes, I haven't seen this film since I was a child but that Beethoven sequence has stuck in my mind for 40 years.

"Joan seemed so curiously affected when you killed that cat..." Yeah, imagine being affected when a guy kills someone's pet cat right in front of you like that. She must be "sensitive". (Good thing they TOLD us he killed it, though, I never would have guessed!)

@krazyzark Oh I thought you meant the song that starts when we see the giant shadow of the cat cast on Bela and goes on through the part where they are going down some stairs. Mybad lol

@WolfKnifeLaserTorch8 actually, docmalthus was right, though Beethoven's 7th symphony II movement is definitely a great piece.

@krazyzark Its the 2nd movement of Beethoven's 7th symphony. I heard it was in this movie and although I love these movies, its the sole reason I watched it. I would encourage you to give it a listen its simply beautiful.

The score is a pastiche and paraphrasing mostly from Tchaikovsky and Beethoven.

anybody know what that tune is in this clip when they proceed into the "basement". Is it part of the original score or a pre-existing composition? seems like it should've been in Dracula.

I absolutely adore Karloff's dialogue in this movie. His voice is so deliciously creepy, no wonder they chose him to narrate and voice the Grinch
