Pickups #53: (Belatedly) What I got for Christmas and post Christmas purchases.

Yes, this is a video showing a small selection of the presents I received at Xmas, plus what I've been able to scrounge on my travels since then. There are games from a wide variety of formats and one or two DVDs, plus a couple of items that defy classification or logic. Lovely stuff.

WoW Owen, awseome christmas haul...loads of quality games. Cold Fear is really good & for 49p...a steal :) I'm actually after Xevious 3D G+ seen a couple on ebay, but not for 49p I've bought it for the PC Engine & hopefully can get the MSX version. Damn!! Fragile Dreams - Love that game, it's got a great story (I have a back up copy, but eventually want the original) from the same guys that developed Eternal Sonata...my daughter's favourite game. :) look forward to seeing the PS1 collection.

@1msx2go Cheers Richard, I think I must've been watching your last vid at the same time! haha Yeah, Cold Fear has surprised me, I wasn't expecting much because you don't hear too much about it but I've really enjoyed it so far. I got really lucky with Xevious, as a PS1 shooter I've had half an eye on it for a while but like yourself I've avoided ebays prices.

I'm a sucker for games with a storyline that look as good as Fragile Dreams, it's good to hear somebody else has enjoyed it.

AARRGGGHH! This didn't appear in my subs box :(. Thankfully Daz linked to it! Haha, that chicken is wicked lol! I love the inbetweeners movie, I lmao off when that geezer pinches the note for snorting near the end, well gross lol! I grabbed cold fear yesterday too, looks cool! SSV didn't get a PAL XBOX release, retrocollect has a full XBOX game database if you ever need to check stuff like that :). MK4 is cool, stand out buy from that lot for me! Nice pick ups mate :)

Good to hear somebody else like the Inbetweeners, it feels familiar, I've been on holidays like that back when I was a youngster. I sort of miss them! haha

Yeah, I've had a go on Cold Fear and it's pretty good, a bit like RE4, have you had a crack yet? I'm chuffed with MK4, I went back to score some more 49p games but they've cleared out already!

I bought Cold Fear not long ago. I agree it looks a lot like RE4 or The Thing.

Left4Dead is a fun game to play, watch out for the pukers! You should definitely try and get on XBL account and give it a go! I haven't heard you mention, how goes the progress with Dark Souls? I got Skyrim for Christmas (not much of an RPGer) and am really getting into it. I have probably played 20 hours or so. There is SO MUCH to the game.

@kdyer1968 And a Happy New Year to you too! I had a quick blast on Cold Fear yesterday and it certainly has an unrefined RE4 feel to it, I enjoyed it though and I like the setting of the moving ship. Playing L4D online as it was meant to be played is one of my New Years resolutions, this'll be my year! haha

I've only played a small way into Dark Souls so far. I wasn't happy with my character and I accidentally used my healing potions before the first encounter! So I started anew.....

@CC10Gaming Also yeah, MM is heavy on the memorization, especially for the first few games you play. Several design aspects tend to repeat throughout the series so getting used to them will make future games a bit easier to adapt to!

@LeBossu77 It's called Rock Man because Inafune was a fan of rock music and built the game's soundtrack around that. That's also makes other characters names like Bass and Forte make more sense, since they're all in line with rock music elements.

@TGApuleius It's not too bad, there are smoother and better looking fighters around, and the sound feels a bit out of balance but it probably just needs tweaking a bit. It's got a nice roster of characters and the controls are nicely responsive, but it's got some minor annoyances such no names on the character select screen and no support for analogue controls! I prefer using Haohmaru in Capcom vs SNK 2 on the Xbox to this game but I'd say it was worth it if you can find it cheaply.

@kazxena Thanks Karen. I've noticed that I've mentioned one or two 'run ins' with the old dears in charity shops and I think that I need to explain that it's purely coincidence and that I'm not waging a concerted war! haha

I get lost at the end of Audition, I always lose track of what's what, just when I think I've got a grasp on it it's gone again, I have to agree it's a quality film though.

It looks like Gamest'n are doing the 49p games to finally clear their retro stock, boo indeed!
