HPD invites you to get a glimpse of what it's like to be a Houston Police Officer. Learn more about the inner workings of the Department, as well as the criminal justice process in general, by attending a series of lectures, tours, demonstrations and hands-on activities.
The Academy involves a 33-hour block of instruction, consisting of a three-hour class, one day a week for 10 weeks. The times of the class are usually 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

And the "cash strapped" police all ride around in supped up Transformers like Dodge Chargers.
