  • yes mattForce5, やってみよう is the volitional form of やってみる, consisting "let's try". The polite form of やってみる is やってみます, then it becomes やってみましょう.

  • @RelVleDy やってみよう means "Let's try", while やってる means "Let's do (this)". They are different because "やってみよう" have the additional meaning of "try".

  • I assume やってみよう corresponds to the plain version of やってる which means "to give it a go," right?
