@ampdavolts It's so funny....I pride myself on my knowledge of old black and white movies etc. But here in the USA nobody has ever heard of him. He was clearly talented and plays to the camera well.....he seems to be the heroic under dog in all the old movie clips I see here on youtube

@ampdavolts I am an american....a guitarist who got into the uke. I just happened upon Formby on youtube. I had never heard of him. I wish I could get some of his movies on a format that can be played in the USA. Watching him has really encouraged me to play the uke more....I just bought a "banjo uke" (because of him). He died fairly young didn't he?

@pfefferrucken LOL....true...but i noticed that in these old movies a lot of just main stream actors had that "semi-hitler cut" with the sides above the ears shaved and the come-over part kind of hacked
