This microhydropower (or pico-hydropower!) project makes 200 watts. The whole project was built in about a day for $130 at an eco-training center in northern Thailand. The turbine was purchased from Vietnam for US$100.
Looks like a micro Francis Turbine, once also build by Voith and Passavant... Good Solution, would provide more Power, if the draft tube would be conical to ensure a higher draft by the laval effect.
Because fpr the turbine, pressure isn't need, it's speed what the turbine propells.

why does the water get sucked out of the pipe at the end? Is it just due to pressure difference?
