HPI Savage XL Ezrun Brushless

HPI Savage X SS converted to XL specs, the motor is a 9XL the ESC is the 150amp Ezrun and I'm running 5s 5000mah 20c lipo. The tranny is JB welded into first gear and I'm running a 13 tooth pinion and a 47 tooth steel spur.

Hey, never changed them out and never had a problem with them. But I also didn't do heavy bashing with the oversize tires.

Hi does the number of cells in a battery really make a difference in speed, I've got identical set up to you and I'm running 2 2 cell 5000mah lipos and my truck is slow as shit, it's got the acceleration but not the top end speed. If I run 2 3 cells would the difference be noticeable, basically would it be quick?

@MrGorillion Yes the number of cells that you run makes a big difference. I was five cell I think. 6 cell would be a huge increase in power and speed. Just keep an eye on your temps.

How do you program a ezrun 150a esc? Do you need a programming card? How do I set default settings? Sorry about all the questions but I've looked on the Internet and I'm confused, not that it takes a lot to confuse me.

@MrGorillion Yeah you are going to need the programming card. you can prob get one off e bay.

All I know is that it's a feigao 9xl motor with ezrun 150 amp esc. I brought it with the pinion missing so I've no clue what tooth pinion to get. It seems like only 1 size pinion would fit in cos of the motor being fixed in place. On eBay what would I type in????

@MrGorillion Type in Mod 1 Pinion, should find some. Or Robinson Racing mod 1 pinion. Or Novak makes pinions too. I had originally had bought a 3 pack like 13-14-15. for around $20.

Hi! Did you have to change the diffs from savage x ones to the BP flux diffs? How long did they survived in your truck when driving like in the video? { xl chassis, huge tires and lots of wheelies} ? tHANKS!

Yep just as I thought, the gearbox has gone and the front diffs on it's way out. I'm gonna chuck all the electrics in a savage x or a xl, at the moment it's all in a standard old chassis. When it's up and running I'll post some videos, cheers for your advice

I haven't a clue mate I might just sell up and be done with it, lol. I drove my truck for the first time yesterday and the acceleration was there but no top end speed at all, I'm thinking there's a problem with the gearbox cos the set up I've got should be quick, I'm running the same set up as your truck and I'm running 2 lipo 2 cell 5000 mah
