Successfully created it...but ran into some "issues" I didn't anticipate. No matter...I overcame them. :) The best "strainer" (for me) to strain the flax seed was a flour cloth.

WARNING:
Flax seed does have the potential to be toxic. It contains substances called "cyanogens" which can be converted to cyanide with additional chemicals and converts in the body into a chemical called, "thiocyanate". In very high blood concentrations for long periods of time it can adversely affect the thyroid.

  • maybe it could be how you made it too, who knows?

  • @ndufcat - It was! Would you believe I made it a lot simpler when I used less flax seeds and a new white knee high stocking! lol

  • you are too funny. how did you get your FSG that color?

  • LOL That's the color it turned into. I never added anything to it.

  • Does the gel have a soft, medium, or firm hold you'd say?

  • The gel has a soft to medium hold to me....definitely not firm but will define your natural curl pattern too.

  • What about the thyroid issue???

  • Flaxseed is actually very healthy. I read that in the UNCOOKED form it is toxic, but as long as it's cooked, it's fine, even for pregnant women. That's what i read. I'm no doctor or specialist, but i do like to read up on things especially when I'm interested and something like 'toxic' stops me in my tracks! Thanks girl!

  • Thanks for the info, I was just getting ready to boil my first batch when I saw your warning about the adverse efffects that flaxseed can have on the thyroid and I may have a thyroid condition. Ounce of prevention... ThanKs

  • the title of your video talks of thyroid, would you explain your findings regarding that please. that was my interest. thank you.

  • I had a similar experience TODAY, my first attempt. I too ended up using a cloth to strain the product, made a mess, had to try different amounts, and wasn't expecting it to be so much work. I don't know if the flaxseeds have nutritional value after being boiled, but if they do, I'll put the rest in my smoothie later today.

  • @chemsucksinbr i totally agree...when i used it i had tons of residue and my hair stayed greasy for a few days.....
