Dan Slentz giving a tour of the brand new 91.7 KXT (KKXT) Dallas-Fort Worth. Entire project was designed and built by Dan Slentz with KERA Engineering group (Darryl Henke leading the installation effort).
Equipment included Wheatstone AoiP Wheatnet System, Presonus 16.4.2 live audio mixer with built in efx and compression, Denon CD/MP3/IP players, ENCO automation, Sage EAS, Heil mics and other misc gear. (Note that not all of this would be recommended based on reliability or manufacturer experience... Positive gear: Certainly Wheatstone, Presonus, Sage and Denon). Tour was digitally recorded early Nov 2009. Station launched three days later. Total time from design to air was about three months.

  • The Heil Mics and booms were a BIG mistake. I grew very unhappy witht he quality of the mics (the the Wheatstone Vorsis processing got even better). The boom broke easily and the mics were very "mid range-y" and created a "lisp" for most jocks with speaking. Not bad for singing though. BEST mic on the market right now for jocks is the brand new EV RE-320 (revision of the RE20 but less expensive and made in China). It ROCKS!!!

  • @WHIZTV Heil PR40's are not meant to be Processed at all, Didn't Bob Heil tell you that? Leo Laporte's shows, before he moved from the cottage used all PR40 connected to the AXIA without any processing... For what you need, get a Sennheiser MD 421... Even if the Plastic Breaks...

  • Great setup for a radio station...no RE-20's!! I have noticed the Morning drive girl has a ton of treble and compression on her voice. That processing really brings out her mouth noise. Anyways, very cool!

  • Nice facility.
