Is Abortion Ever Necessary To Save The Life Of The Mother? This declaration was created by the public policy department of American Life League, Inc. It was circulated to members of the medical and scientific communities for review and endorsement. Many hundreds of physicians have all signed statements of agreement with the declaration. Their signed statements are on file at American Life League, P.O. Box 1350, Stafford, VA 22555; "I agree that there is never a situation in the law or in the ethical practice of medicine where a preborn child's life need be intentionally destroyed by procured abortion for the purpose of saving the life of the mother. A physician must do everything possible to save the lives of both of his patients, mother and child. He must never intend the death of either." "This statement contradicts the popular political thinking that such an exception is needed. It reflects the ethical thinking and practice of many physicians, and is based on empirical data provided by physicians over the past thirty years," said American Life League president Judie Brown. "The 'life of the mother' exception has become standard fare for politicians and legislative proposals claiming the pro-life label. This is why ALL began the campaign with physicians and we are continuing this campaign by, today, challenging every major presidential candidate to face the facts and denounce the life of the mother exception. "In fact the language is archaic, it does not reflect current medical experience, and it is nothing more than a loophole for the abortionist. The language is a lie." Further, the American Life League adheres to the following teaching of Pope Pius XII: Every human being, even the infant in the mother's womb, has the right to life immediately from God, not from the parent or any human society or authority. Therefore, there is no man, no human authority, no science, no medical, eugenic, social, economic or moral "indication" that can show or give valid juridical title for direct deliberate disposition concerning an innocent human life-which is to say, a disposition that aims at its destruction either as an end in itself or as the means of attaining another end that is perhaps in no way illicit itself. Thus, for example, to save the life of the mother is a most noble end, but the direct killing of the child as a means to this end is not licit. • You know, I love your videos. I just wanted to let you know that now I understand the ivf. I watched the movie 1984 and how they made the act of sex as something unpatriotic, where women were men and men were woman and it was illegal to love and be married with love. IVF was the only way to procreate and the blessings and rights we have as humans given to us by God were stripped away. Interesting movie..alittle extreem but it got me thinking..God bless.

  • butterflie2484, thank you very much for your comments!

  • We already went over this, ectopic pregnancies. The egg is fertilized outside of the uterus which will put pressure on the internal organs as the embryo grows. Depending on the stage of development either antimetabolite methotrexate can be administered, or if it more advanced surgical removal of the embryo.

  • I watched it and still not convinced. Your video is essentially saying this "wait it out until it dies then we will remove the entire fallopian tube." This approach exposes the woman to extreme pain, possible medical complications and infertility/lowered fertility after F. Tube is removed. It is far safer to administer methotrexate or microsurgery performed early. The video still does not answer what a woman is supposed to do if the embryo forms outside BOTH the uterus and F. tube.

  • by the way im a 100% pro life

    :)

  • let me give you a scenario; what if a women had just had her child and had a c section...and that women accidently got pregnant again, i dont know, about 2 months later. so as you probably imagine her uterous was goin to grow again without her wound healing fully from the inside. therefore her wounnd would eventually began to open puttin the mother in risk. what then?

  • Leetist, the catch is the "Principle of Double Effect" which is implicity in the video. No one is saying that the woman should be allowed to die. The video simply allows for the possibility of spontaneous regression -- if that fails, then, the doctor has done all that he can do -- and the inevitable operation has to be performed. This is opposed to the knee jerk reaction by many to kill the baby on the onset. Respect for life is paramount here.

  • Do many Catholics believe in this treatment for ectopic pregnancies? I have never heard of it before and neither has my friend who is Catholic and went to Med. School. I also have a background in medicine but brief compared to his. If my wife or any woman in my family got this condition I would strongly advise them to not take any risks with their life and health because of simple semantics.

  • Leetist, no, the catch is the "Principle of Double Effect" which is implicity in the video. Please read up on this topic.

  • Leetist, please see our video post, "Ectopic / Tubal Pregnancies & Abortion Ethics Pro-Life Anti-Abortion Video" -- this was the video I was referring to earlier.

  • You mentioned something about one of your videos but I could not find it on your channel, or pro-life play list. So I looked it up, apparently in the Catholic faith it is ok to remove the fallopian tube the embryo is growing in completely but to just surgically remove the embryo or treat it early is immoral. Two problems w/ Catholic approach; ectopic pregnancies do not always occur in F.Tubes, and you could be significantly decreasing one's fertility and increasing medical complications.
