Strong backs and a crew willing to do a hard days work, erecting a ride in 1949, manually, no hydraulics.

  • This wheel was manufactured at Big Eli in Jacksonville Illinois. The plant is over 100 years old and remains open for business, still building ferris wheels and carnival rides. The will build/supply replacement parts for any ferris wheel they manufactured- no matter the age.

  • Interesting video. We talked at Ingenuity, and I remembered your mention of this video. I'm curious about where this ferris wheel was being set up.

  • that was an ace video i used to work for harts amusements building up the big wheel up very nearly like your vid ace we where a strong bunch of fair lads in the 70s and 80s until hydraulics came along not the same

  • The Big Eli is THE most interesting ride in the business and I think it made the business. Sawdustcarnival

  • I love watching videos from the 30s and 40s, it's so fascinating. thanks.
