Ahh... Konbu dashi. All these years I was brought up as a good Japanese girl but the only ochazuke I've made at home was by Nagatani-en. I used to collect the Impressionist painting cards that used to come in the packet. =)
My favourite use of wasabi is to clear the sinuses. A bit on the tongue, stright, breath in as you swallow it and voi la, yea I can breath freely! Warning: it may lead to substantial hair growth in your chest.
Did you know that excess consumption of toffu may lead to infetility!
I do need to etch more into the slate that is my experience with oriental foods. I'm checking to see if there are any Japanese import grocers in my area ;)
I ususally have ochazuke with green tea. I'm SURE it'd taste better with stock, though! It's a great light lunch. Wasabi just isn't my thing; I'm only just starting to eat spicy foods, so it's still a little much for me.
