  • Things to note are 1) Normally the exam takes place with a pair of candidates. However, this is not always possible when the total number of candidates taking the exam on a given date cannot be divided by two. In such cases the number of candidates at one seating (so to speak) will sometimes be three rather than two. 2) Where there are two candidates the duration of the exam is approximately 15 minutes. This is extended to 20 minutes in the event of there being three candidates.

  • 3) Note that on her desk the interviewer has a clock. This is so the four specific elements of the oral examination being tested and the corresponding responses from the candidates can be timed in accordance with the standards laid down. 4) The other person in attendance – who does not speak – has the responsibility of marking the candidates on their use of spoken English.

  • is it a real exam ?
