Two people out of twenty six like Twilight.

"Twilight" is a cheesy, generic fantasy about the "romance" between a retarded high school girl and a sparkly mannequin who climbs trees. "Let the Right One In", on the other hand, has the balls to tell a crazy story about the relationship between a neglected twelve year old Swedish boy and a 200 year old androgynous castrated vampire masquerading as a girl, and to make it sad and convincing as hell

@al20a I agree, but some people are put off by having to listen to all the Swedish or read subtitles. An American made film would appeal to people the way a foreign film couldn't.

The characters are portrayed with a true down 2 earth awkwardness that is usually found with kids this age, with a longing that's both sincere & convincing. As a vampire film, I agree with those who compare this with another vampiric lovestory that was released around the same time:
the 15 year old girls can have their Twilight. I'll take LTROI.
