Spike TV 2011 Video Game Award Nominees Announced

What's up guys, and welcome back to Clevver Games, I'm Andrea Rene and I've got the full rundown of nominees for this year's Video Game Awards from SPIKE TV. The VGAs held every December celebrate the best of the video game industry and are known for revealing new trailers, game announcements, and random celebrity appearances.

Game of the Year and Most Anticipated Game were already announced but now the full list of nominees is out. Leading the pack with the most nominees is Portal 2 with 12 and Batman Arkham City with 10, two fantastic selections if you ask me. The two games go head to head in a number of categories including Game of the Year, Best Xbox Game, And Best Voice Acting.

Speaking of which, the nominees this year are fantastic. Duking it out for best human male is Nolan North for Uncharted 3's Nathan Drake, J.K. Simmons for Portal 2's Cave Johnson, Stephen Merchant for Portal 2's Wheatley, and the clear front runner in my opinion, Mark Hamil as Batman's The Joker.

In the female category there is Claudia Black as Uncharted 3's Chloe Frazer, Emily Rose as Uncharted 3's Elena Fisher, Tara Strong as Batman's Harley Quinn, and Ellen McLain as Portal 2's GlaDos.

In the best shooter category we've got Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3, Gears of War 3, and Rage. Best Action Adventure is pretty much a Game of the Year race between Uncharted 3, Skyward Sword, Batman, and Assassin's Creed Revelations. Best RPG is going to go to Skyrim but in case you were curious the other nominees are Dark Souls, Deus-Ex Human Revolution, and Dragon Age 2.

And for the first time ever, Spike TV has created the Video Game Hall of Fame Award. The inauguarl recepient is none other than The Legend of Zelda. The award will honor the most memorable and innovative video game franchises of all time. Zelda is celebrating 25 years of excellence and is definitely deserving of such an award.
