omg this is the same thing I thought when I saw this, never heard of him before.... surprised he sounds black, like Ray Charles.... LOVE IT

they called it the spencer davis group a little prematurely before Winwood could burst out from his hooded blossom and yet still even if he were given the chance he could not possibly bring himself into calling a band after himself.

Stevie ROCKS! So talented and HE STILL IS! Amazing performer and here, he was only 18. Check out the "My Babe" clip too. He was even younger yet, I think 16. He looks to be about 110 lbs. but he just breaks out with this incredible powerful, soulful sound that only he can do. So under-rated. He had to have been BORN singing and DEF born to play the Hammond B-3 (not to mention his vintage Stratocaster). If you get the chance to see him, DO IT...he's still touring and still AMAZING!

Here's a sentence that was never heard at a "Spencer Davis Group" meeting:
"I've been thinking chaps, and I believe we'd all be better off without Steve."
who is this white guy that sings like ray charles and plays like eric clapton ? quote from billy joel.

From what I understand, Stevie Winwood
joined his father's R&B band when he was nine years old. So he's learning all his craft at a very early age and by the time he joins Spencer Davis he's a veteran at 16.
