also i got a tip, lol. For the second example, look at the sign. It is a negative so you subtract. What number subtracted by what number gives you seven 8-1 give you seven. I thought its much easier. But thats me. Thx for helping me get this.

What do you do when it's a non-monic trinomial (x doesn't = 1)???
