For this repair you also need
-Torx 8 Screwdriver/T8
-Torx 10 Screwdriver/T10
-A small flat screwdriver to open the back

This repair will work on allmost all RROD's especially on the ones with 0102 0020 as secondary code. It CAN also fix the one red light in the right bottom with an error code on screen like "e74" but only if it's the GPU if it's the ANA or HANA chip it can't (unless you're lucky with overheating)

I already fixed 12 xbox 360's like this but you have to use heatpaste because all things like that will make the fix permanent. Otherwise it will not last long, same thing when you don't overheat. Of course you can put alternative heatsyncs under the memory chips and tricks like that but it isn't the SOURCE of the problem, however it can be good to do.

You can also do this without attaching the motherboard to the steel case, like explained. If you want to do that use screws with a flat top which doen't get smaller 10 mm long (without the top) don't put STEEL washers under the motherboard if you do this.

The "aggresive cleaning stuff" is cleaning spirit or something similar.

The xbox worked for over a year and then got another error code, the GPU died completely...

Feel free to ask questions.

  • @runescapesidemona gah....4 is cords....3 is RROD i would know...i've had it 3 times now....POINT IS it CAN come back for a short time if it gets 3 but 3 IS DEFFFFFFFFF rrod 2 is overheating and 1 is error# something (74?)

  • @Jburdette86 Seriously? The song is pretty awesome. You missed a gem.

  • this is how i fixed my rrod: [1 opened xbox] [2 stuck rolled paper in fans, overheating xbox 3red->2red] [3 unplugged power cord while on 2red] [4 plugged usb laptop cooling fans, removed paper] [5 booted xbox, tada works]

left halo 3 running for awhile, turned xbox off, then turned it on, it works; i'll post again if it still works in a month or so when i find my controller. its ugly and ghetto, but it works and didnt have to drill shit and screw things; so if you're lazy, try my method.

  • @0500765, yes, get the 16mm screws and go through the case too! Make sure the washers under the heatsink are exactly the same height as the OEM ones ( the ones you remove from the heatink bottoms).

  • @reedrobb, Still running 1-19-12. Just cracked open a buddies XBOX to do it on his! Thanks a million! Where so I send the check?

  • @Jburdette86 It's great music, dont bitch about it.
