I may not have fought fire as long as you have, but i have been in it long enough to know that doing the things you mentioned can get you killed, or worse, get one of your fellow brothers killed because you made a mistake because you didnt know what you were doing. I hope that never happened to anyone that worked with you. I am surprised that you were never seriously hurt. DOnt get me wrong I never want to see a fellow firefighter hurt. But being untrained you are asking for it.

First fire? Really man. I feel sorry for you I really do. Bashing fellow firefighters while I was trying to stick up for us. Fighting fire untrained and unprepared is why we lose an average of 100 firefighters a year. We used to lose alot more brothers when we did it "the old fashion way". If that way did so well then why have so many things changed? Why has the death tole decreased in the past ten or fifteen years?

oh bull shit.i fought fires for 17 years and never once did i care about how many square feet 1 gallon of water would expand when it turns to steam, or smoke rises and heat follows it , or about friction loss... one day i was a house painter and the next i was a fireman. i was tought the old fashion way, ojt my first shift we had a building fire, i didnt even know how to put on n air pak but i went in and put the wet stuff on the red stuff.. we averaged 1 fire a shift. and i never read a manual.
