Flin Flon South Main Mine Shaft Demolition

This is the South Main Mine Shaft being demolished at 5:30 am Monday July 27 2009. The building was built in 1939 and met its end on this day. It was a big part of the landscape here, but it is for the best that they got rid of what isn't being used.

I used to look at the South Main Shaft out my bedroom window from Creighton Avenue. It always seemed so fantastically big when I was a little kid. I imagine that in another 10 or 20 years there will be nothing left.
