Cyclists get a bad rep. Its not surprising when you see someone riding like this.

Its a shame though that the actions of the few create a problem for the rest of us

  • rogerhuk, Continued. The main point I was trying to make however was not the Hiviz but some form of registration or identification number so that irresponsible cyclists could be identified and brought to task. Personally I think this should be on Hiviz but it could also be on the bike provided that every bike was then nationally registerd. I just think it would be less of an administrative nightmare for each rider to be registered and show personal identification. We've to do both as car drivers

  • @NeilBayliss22 would this scheme also include 6 year olds on their mini BMXs?

  • rogerhotuk. We are agreed on at least one point as I whole heartedly agree better positioning by cyclists would improve their visibility but only if they are visible. Having seen many cyclists wearing dark clothing at night I still say they that hiviz should be a legal requirement. Yes it is official livery that I chose for my driving school car and before any comment yes I do try to teach my pupils to have respect for cyclists and give them plenty of room they've just as much right on the road.

  • @NeilBayliss22 even your day-glow car wont show-up at night. its reflective materials that stand-out at night, not hi-viz.

Anyway, if you have "seen many cyclists wearing dark clothing at night" then they can hardly have been invisible...

  • rogerhotuk Are you one of these irresponsible cyclists who want to break the law then? Or are you prepared to take responsibility for your own safety and make yourself easily visible instead of just blaming the motorists? Yes I know the motorist is sometimes in the wrong and should be brought to task when they are but so should the cyclist. For your information my car has dayglow stripes down both sides and front and rear, so you now need to start wearing hiviz don't you.

  • @NeilBayliss22 There is no legal requirement to wear hi-viz so no-one is "breaking the law" if they choose not to wear it. IMO, the best way for cyclists to make themselves more visible is through better road positioning rather than dressing-up as a bin man.

Day-glow stripes on a car make it sound like some kind of official livery...

  • The behavior of that person is the typical behavior of cyclists, not the exception. If traffic stops at a red and bikes also do, drivers are much more friendly towards cyclists.

  • @rogerhotuk Thats bollocks, this was taken at blackfriars just up from the bridge and I work there and see this all the time. Cyclists are the most dangerous road users and this is coming from someone who walks to work (Herne Hill to Blackfriars and back, a 8km journey each day). It is only because you are flavour of the month that no action is taken against cyclists dangerous road use.

  • The best plan for London is to ban cars altogether. They obviously don't want them there or you wouldn't be paying congestion charge.

  • you cyclists allllllll the same mate unfortunatly london trafic cause bike cyclists.bad drivers + rush hour+ cyclist = fuckeed up london trafic !

  • Nice 'doofah's' on the girl cyclist at the end! lol

  • Like to class myself as a stealth cyclist .. you wont even know i was there ...i very rarely travel on the roads as we are blessed in Sheffield with nice wide footpaths and a great cyclepath network , i dont believe cycles have a place on modern roads , even with the best intentions from both parties (drivers and cyclists), the outcome of an accident for the cyclist could always have fatal consequences .

  • If I was the bus driver...this guy's family 'd be getting some insurance money...

  • Он в рюкзаке вез Олимпийский огонь в Лондон !
