Leafeon Costume

Part of a complete Eeveelution cosplay group first debuted at A-kon 20. The character, Avery the Leafeon, is a creature suit style Pokemon costume with moving jaw.

This is obviously my best costume to date and was very well received at the anime conventions I took her to! Total work time was around 80-100 hours (not counting the planning stages) and was my first time working with faux fur and real leather. I have officially perfected the jaw movement and as requested will be one day making a tutorial covering how you can make your own to implement in other mask projects.

More information about the build process will be covered in the walkthrough video but I'll be happy to answer questions as I find time. I encourage you to also check out the Flickr gallery work in progress photos and that should give you a pretty good idea of how it was done.

I originally entered the cosplay competition at NDK 09 in the intermediate category, but when I appeared for the the preliminary craftsmanship judging, they took one look at me and bumped me up to masters. I certainly did my job of impressing them, but perhaps I did it a little too well? I was honored that I had they felt I belonged in a higher category but now was worried that I wouldn't stand a chance. But everything turned out just fine and from this point on, I have officially become a "Master Cosplayer" :D

Also a big slobbery kiss of much luffings for Ani (Starmuttani) who was awesome enough (as usual) to record the video and take pictures. She was the Jolteon in our group and I'll soon be returning the favor for her.
