@tfitty202 yes, but the locking mechanism is rotating at a much higher speed, because of the gearing. And remember it occurs very often. Maybe 50 times each time you go shopping, because of all the lights, other traffic, etc.

doesn't the engagement mechanism wear quickly? Because of hitting the lockout mechanism? In the animation it's slowed down, but if I think about it happening at 100 rpm, it seems like a lot of rotational energy that is stopped in an instance.
Furthermore, I imagine the paw grinding down if it doesn't grip completely.
