AMD first shows the new HP dv2, a small computer that uses the AMD Neo processor, a 1.6 Ghz, 25 watt CPU that's part of their Yukon chipset. It's a very interesting little machine - far more powerful than a netbook, but starts at $699 USD, so not that much more expensive than most of them. AMD also talked a little about their new Phenom II CPU, and how it forms a pillar in their new Dragon platform. The Phenom II CPU has been overclocked to 6.3 Ghz with liquid nitrogen, and to 3.7 Ghz with air cooling. They stressed that they believe the experience of using a computer is about more than the speed of the CPU. I agree, except when I'm having to render a huge HD video file; then it's ALL about the speed of the CPU. They talked a little about the Fusion Render Cloud, but not in very much detail - I suspect this is still too new of an initiative to have much in the way of detail. After AMD talked, Image Metrics got up to show what they've been able to do with ATI GPUs - and the results are quite impressive!

  • ok so,

what's the difference between a netbook and a notebook?

  • Netbooks tend to be much smaller, lighter, less expensive, have smaller screens, lack an optical drive, and use an ultra-low power CPU.

  • Can a lip reader make out what is being said in that video? That would be the ultimate test.

  • cooldiablo2001, the point of tombmedia's post was that whether or not a lipreader could understand what the CG character was saying (without audio) would be a good test of the accuracy of the CG reconstruction.

  • I just want to add to this, "Netbooks" have been given a bad "realization" from Intel for being "shitty, small, lightweight, low power, no gaming, no HD movies" and so on, where as AMD feels that ALL platforms should be able to do SOME kind of gaming, HD video, and so on, so they don't want to label their products as "netbook" since the name has been tarnished.

At least, that's the way I see it.....

  • Tombmedia i understood every single word so you may have 2 problems : 1. Your english sucks or 2. You may woke up tomorow deaf so before posting stupid comments please think twice or maybe in your case try at least to think
