  • Nope. PeTA does some great undercover expose work but they market to people as if they are idiots a lot of the time, which really puts me off.

  • You can get vegan stuff on the run by saying you are hard core vegetarian and lactose intolerant (hardcore vegetarian (a caring person, really)meaning no eggs and fish! (although that should be an obvious one with vegetarianism)). That has worked for my friend, Brandon, and I. Also, if I were not a poor and lazy college student, I would recommend your meal structure - not meat with a fudge load of fruits and vegetables. We love you! Hope this helps.

  • The only real way to ensure vegan meals on the go is to plan ahead and make something. Even if it's just pb&j or keeping cereal bars in my purse.

  • Hahaha, yeah. The American southeast is really meat oriented. The whole area in general tends to be really agricultural and a lot of it goes back to slavery. Slaves would typically get the leftovers of any meat meal after it had been cut up and served to the family, so many slaves grew accustomed to foods like fat back, chitlins, and bacon. 100 years later, it's just sort of an institution here.

    I live in Memphis myself, and Memphis barbecue is considered a huge deal.

  • The problem with milk and meat is, that they imply hormones which aren't good for peoples' health. Especially oestrogens and growth hormones, there are a lot of growth hormones in milk because the cows are unnaturally "souped-up", to produce more milk. Those growth hormones advance cancer, which is logical.

  • Actually, I think whole foods is the best way to go... a lot of vegan pre-prepared stuff isn't that healthy OR tasty! Also, it can cost a fortune!!

  • Yeah, i'm more or less vegan now, my moms actually buying more stuff i can eat, some of it is processed, and some of it is lots of whole foods. You know, i feel much more energetic than i did when i was snacking on milk, cheese sandwiches, wotsits, and other things, even with healthy meals and it's only been a short time.. I still think i need a bit of help though lol.
