IT IS A COOL SONG- PLEASE DON'T TAINT IT WITH POLITICAL INSANITY!

@lolgellor ... there are still plenty of talented artists around that still have to keep their day jobs ... I could name a few around here .... one band here on their last major label sold 60k copies in the UK. Can't get a major label to take any interest in their last album even though it has been widely praised by the music press and played on 6music ... oh well :-(

@jonjuliecat True enough we were both skint and signing on, he had a family to support, which kind of made the lyrics as poigniant as ever for him I'm sure. If it hadn't been for a speculative intervention by Vic Keary at Chalk Farm studios, there wouldn't have been a deal with Stiff and to be fair to Mr Robinson Stiff did come up with a bit of dough - for DD & other talented artists the real shafting went on in the sixties, hang on I have never recieved any royalties for DD stuff I produced!

thumbs if you were eating vitalite spread before you searched for this

For this to be released on 10" by Stiff Records only makes this song better!! :P
-
this version was released on Stiff records - at the time poor old DD was so poor he couldn't afford a telephone ... another talent shafted by the record industry...
