The author outlines the structure and content of his book using a Mind Map as a guide. He explains that in an accident, a casualty goes into an immediate trance. Just like being in hypnosis, the victim's subconscious mind is highly receptive to anything said by the emergency responder and anyone else in the area. It is vital those professionals are vigilant about the words and actions they use when attending a casualty. The book was launched at the 2010 Symposium of NAEMSE (National Association of EMS Educators) in Schaumburg IL. This book is intended for paramedics, EMTs, fire-rescue personnel, police officers, first aiders, military medics, ski patrol staff, and anyone else who might have to attend to an injured person.
