the cardboard box was already open and revealed all that was inside the box. why would anyone think that cutting the box open from the outside would make something else appear on the inside?

@stunnamac27 saw the animals pictures behind the cabinet and also all the animal pics around the room had numbers on them, tried the order and thats how.
