Now, it's time for something completely different!

The Spanish guitarrist, Narciso Yepes (1927.11.14 - 1997.5.3) plays Main Theme music - Romance - of the 1952 French film masterpiece, Rene Clement's Jeux Interdits (Forbidden Games).

This record is a King Record pressing. I don't know much about this company except they are from Japan. I bought this record in an antique shop in Seoul flea market - it was on the turntable of an Indian Crap-o-phone.

Of course, there are lots of recordings of this piece done by Narciso Yepes (and other hundreds of guitarrist) with Hi-fi recording technology. But anyway, this 78rpm recording is somewhat more nostalgic than the modern recordings.

Played on my Numark Turntable.

  • Merveilleux de nostalgie. Merci !

  • @baryss: I'm sorry, but Maestro Yepes was not telling the truth in this interview. He was born in 1927, however the earliest known publication of this piece dates from 1913 in Buenos Aires.

  • Amazing..

  • i hear it long - long time ago, and only today i know it!

  • The Anonymous Romance belongs to Narciso Yepes by himself. He composed it for his mother when he was 7 years old for a birthday gift.He declared it on an interview on a radio program. The song come world famous so he decided to sign the song as romance anonymous.

  • Beautiful melody...I heard this piece many times before, but I never knew who composed it...such a mellow tune but yet so powerful, thanks for posting!

  • if at first you don't succeed, try try again....when i sightread it at first, i thought the same, had it mastered within a few minutes. What is so appealing about this song is how simple and easy it is, yet so powerful and beautiful.
