Filmed on Super 8, clips of the trip from North Hykeham to Lincoln. Can you recognise any of the journey?

  • Then past the almost new fire station. After a right turn onto Canwick Road (unseen) over Pelham Bridge and straight on at the roundabout and up Broadgate. Then it would have been a right turn to Clasketgate then left up the High Street. Then it would be up Spring Hill to Union Road and onto Burton Road. The bus is turning right from Rasen Lane with the Ploughboy on the right. I think the car has then turned right onto Rasen Lane and into the back streets off it. Hope I'm right!

  • Brilliant bit of film. Leaving Hykeham centre, Lincoln Rd, Hykeham Road towards Lincoln. I think the filling station is very close to the shops in Hykeham. The houses on the left I think are around the area of Gregg Hall Cresent to Fosse House. Then a right turn onto Newark Road and past Rookery Lane and the (now demolished) Wagon and Horses, past Smiths crisps, on past St Catherines church. Then a right at the roundabout onto South Park past Queens park on the right and Sincil Bank left.

  • First 20 secs look like Hykeham Road to me, lived in that area from 1957 to 1979.

  • so long as we dont have to see the discusting gillies or ermine lol

  • It's my guess that from 0:10 to 0:17 we can see the Hykeham memorial ground on Newark Road in the left of the shot.

  • Really good to see this on here. Shows how much things have changed as I regularly do this journey now and struggled to get my bearings from the film. Nice bit of history.

  • Good stuff !

  • Can you tell where it is for the first 20 seconds ? Is it Newark rd or Lincoln Rd ? Things change a big deal. Pity that you couldnt do the whole journey but I realise the cost of film back then.

  • where did this come from?? was great!

  • wow, great footage!
