When the Military goes to War it has a set of Objectives to complete. In this case #1 Capture Bin Laden #2 Defeat the Taliban #3 added #4 Cature Saddam, #5 Find Weapons of Mass Destruction. #6 Set up Puppet Goverment in Iraq & Afgan. When the Objectives were to difficult to complete. They changed the objectives sent in more trrops and claimed the SURGE was a victory. This is a Political victory, not a true military victory.

It is obvious the surge helped stop much of the violence. Obama would be a fool to deny it and he doesn't.

But Obama says Now What???? We have thousands more troops there and are no closer to getting out of Iraq. The surge does not stop the political problem: the Iraqi gov't is not prepared to rule.

here is Obama's point as I understand it about the surge. Ok. Joey pushed me into the water, my hair got wet. I used a towel to dry it. It is still wet. I tried to comb it dry it is still. Then I used a blow dryer. But it was not plugged in. So, I plugged it in then dried my hair. But the reality is Joey should not have pushed me in the water and thus we still have not addressed the issue even though what we did worked. But that was not our purpose.

I want Dems to win, but the brilliant Obama campaign vs. Clinton is now crumbling;

1.Why did they steer Obama to accept the phone company/domestic spy immunity as a good stance to adopt- this was the first crack in his Mr.Unique Politician posture.

2. he acts like a wallflower in August letting McCain bash him unopposed.

3.He STUPIDLY SAYS THE SURGE WAS SUCCESSFUL! He should be saying the Sunni switching sides MADE the surge successful.

4. He's attacking Palin-that's the JOB of Biden+Clinton!

The surge has worked better than people expected. He was right on the war. We shouldn't have ever been in iraq in the first place to test the surge.

You still dont get it ...Obama is say the true reason for going in we not what is truly being accomplish. Our American money is being spend...get it and we are getting half of what we paid for..

I think the surge was needed to spark the anbar awakening. Other thing like you said may have worked, but not at the same speed, and probably not much confidece in that.
