University of Virginia alumna Dawn Staley, who remains a driving force in women's basketball, delivers the valedictory address to the Class of 2009 at U.Va.'s John Paul Jones Arena. Staley assures graduates they are prepared to succeed in life, despite the current economic climate.
When a U.Va. student, Dawn Staley helped to lead the women's basketball team under coach Debbie Ryan. Since graduating in 1992, Staley has played in the WNBA and on U.S. Olympics teams, winning three gold medals. Dawn Staley coached the women's basketball team at Temple University for several seasons and is now the head women's basketball coach at the University of South Carolina.
