Incidentally, the organ in the animation looks familiar... anyone know what it's based on?

Sort of like Sparky's Magic Piano, for the organ... Pietro Yon's Toccatina at 2:20! God, I can't escape that bloody piece... gets played at EVERY RECITAL I EVER GO TO! Great fun, though. Tylman Susato's Mohrontanz at 3:05, too. Bach BWV565 at 4:47, the one I know just as "Hickory Dickory Dickory Dock" straight after... then Mendelssohn's wedding march... Harry Potter music after! "Hedwig's Theme" IIRC. Finale from Saint-Saens' Organ Symphony thereafter... any other spots, anyone?

Well first of all I would say that it is obvious that this is aimed at kids. Secondly have you ever tried doing something for free at the same time as numerous other jobs? Of course it's not going to be perfect. You do sound very bitter that you havent had such an opportunity. Shame on you for not being supportive when someone tries to make a difference.

The 'making of' video says he's studying animation. Would've thought he'd try and do some animation before enrolling on the University course. Did he get paid to do this or did he volunteer?

I agree with chris thompson. Organists can be possessive about (their) instruments. After a recital at Hull City Hall I asked one of the hall staff if I could examine the 4 manual console with a friend - I overheard the organ curator say to the staff member 'Watch Them!' A very bad attitude! To the credit of the City Hall staff member he told me ' ignore him, this is a civic organ - you pay for it so its yours'

The animation was made as a project by a student on a Master's course who had never done any animation before, and as using Maya and Z-brush for the first time.

Very good for promoting the organ to children. As said previously the animation could have been better. Why did the magic not work Dan's fingers and feet?

the idea is very good but I cannot seem to watch the whole video due to the lifeless animation.

However, I wish I had come up with the idea.
