In his 2012 State Of The Union Speech, president Obama proposed taking away federal funding to colleges who can't control high tuition and fees. He also proposed keeping interest rates on federally subsidized student loans low. Ana Kasparian, Cenk Uygur and Jayar Jackson of The Young Turks break it down.

  • I'm so sick of hearing people go on about privatizing k-12 education. This is what happens to privatized education; tuition costs go up not down. Sure, America has some of the best universities in the world, but literally at what cost? Obviously, it's a great benefit IF one can afford it, but like any business, they'll jack up the price as high as they can take it, until enough people decide that it's not a worthwhile investment and forgo a college degree

  • He talks the talk, but is he going to walk the walk?

  • Why is anna on the right!? Boom! the moon blew up.

  • @IncentiveMediaTV they arent cut off though they are only somewhat cut off and they are still using tax money since they arent totally cut off

  • @jenisedai im afraid you're screwed for being in the wrong era and not being smart enough to see through this college b.s. before you apply

  • @kazooga1234 at least if the for profit colleges got cut off, they wouldn't be able to use my tax dollars to fund their useless programs that would produce no job but more federal debt!

  • @TheHobgoblyn the reason college tuition is so high is because of the federal gov giving away loans to every 18 year-old like they are free money, they are not free, they're my tax dollars! I wonder why educational debt has reached over credit card debt.

  • @365to173repubsPWNED exactly!

  • @H3770mynameis At least privatized colleges with super high tuition and useless degrees would not be able to use my tax dollars to hand out useless degrees for lazy students that will default on federal loans... it's better than the other way.

  • @H3770mynameis if tuition goes up they don't get any customers. Lol let there be competition. Isn't that capitalism, as if Public schools are awesome. No they are horrendous and are dropout factories.

Maybe the gov. should invest in Charter schools.

  • Easy federal loans are what's driving tuition
