  • oy oy oy, there are so many misunderstnadings among our community, Hashem yishmor. I used to think they make the rebbe into a god until I read "Crossing the narrow bridge". Oy, if you only understood the meaning of how a yid is supposed to be mekushar to the tzaddik. Most mitzva tanses they dont dance this way. It's actuallly cute how he's dancing. He's a sweet little zeide. Open your hearts, get rid of that stone, my fellow yiden. where is your ahavas yisroel? have daas not ignorance!

  • thats a beautiful costume, with deep meaning

  • people always having something negative to say even in this beautufil video of a grand father dancing with the bride. what a shame! I can feel the holliness of the moment

  • Is that old man and drunk?

  • What that old man is doing?

  • It is amazing to watch all the absolutely foolish comments that are written on this blog. I have personally attended many of these. This is probably one of the holliest events someone can possibly attend in ones life and it is so small minded and foolish of those small ignorant thinkers who have the odasity to comment, not being fully informed! The Rebbe is not G-d! He is not Eagotistical! He is just trying to bring us closer to G-d thru his actions!

  • This is so creepy!! At 1st wen i saw this rebbe, i thought it was my grandfathr! i hav a vid & pix of my grandfathr in the same kind of scene! My grandfathr's holdin the gartel & dancing by my cuz's mitzvah tanz. Did i mention that my grandfathr & my cuz is skver? So it makes alot of sense! But there's 1 thing diff, my grandfathr was alittle more hunchd! May we all only hav simchos!

  • Hmmm. Apparently it is a veil covering her face. I saw it on some other brides. I never saw that before, covering the bride's face for the mitzvah dance, it must be a Satmer custom.

  • Does this girl have a veil covering her face, or is it just the wind blowing the layers of her veil forward? Because if her face is covered, why would it still be covered at this point (the end) of the wedding? The face veil should have come off after the chuppa.

(But I'm guessing this is an outdoor platform and it's just a breeze blowing her veil.)

  • No, she's not being shlepped. It only looks that way because the girls are inevitably extremely shy about being the center of attention and they just want that moment to be over so they can be on the sidelines again. This is very intimidating for the young brides. The father or grandfather on the other end of the "gartel", on the other hand, is obviously a very big Rebbe who has no problem at all appearing before a crowd, so they are more confident. It's very sweet, actually :).

  • Actually, immediate family members are permitted to touch each other, that is, the father may hold his daughter's hand. But because of the momentousness of the occasion, and the father's high office - he is a distinguished Rabbi - he chose to dance with her using the "gartel" - the traditional waist sash - as the contact between them. Some other rabbis choose to hold their daughters' hands directly during this dance, which is very moving to see because it's very unusual in the Hassidic world.
