Data from a CAT scan is enhanced and presented, using simple visualization techniques, to show the structures inside a torso. The data is automatically segmented and labeled by false color: white for bones and high-density regions, red for muscles, blue for tissue, clear for empty regions, and gold for the heart. This second version took half a week to produce and document. A previous alpha version took one week, including procuring & marshalling data,
designing & writing a custom 3D ray-tracing engine from the ground up, and documentation. Enhancing and visualizing noisy data is a first step towards automatic tracking, which is useful for planning laser or robot-driven procedures. By Sequoia Consulting SEQCON.com.
