@Speakerofthehouse2 it's nice to hear these words by an proud italian american. unluckily all don't think like you. for like you said your mom wasn't born in Italy but in Usa, but tell me how old are you now, if i can know? :).however you said right, changing the name doesn't not to be proud to be Italian, one changes own name to make it more american friendly.well i know some do this way. don't worry, reply xd

Because he changed his name doesn't mean he's not proud. I don't have an Italian last name but my mother was 100% Sicilian Italian, and my grandparents were born in Sicily and immigrated here in the 1930's. I look in the mirror and see a Italian staring back even though I don't have an Italian last name. I think of my upbringing, remember the rich Italian traditions of my familia and feel that sense of Italian-American pride same way I'm sure Tony Bennet does. That's Italiano pride!

scumbag when Tony Bennett was coming up.. people wouldn't give an Italian a shot... they all changed their names... Dean Martin, Pat Cooper Jerry Vale, Frankie Valli etc...
-
Vocally I will still take Jerry Vale over Bennett, Sinatra, or Martin.

@tonygmilan7 Alot of Italians change their last names.....sad, but its life.

Bravo Tony we love you, keep going strong. God bless you!

Tony, we love you! Go strong and god bless you.
I'm sure he is proud, but I have more respect for someone like Frank Sinatra who refused to make his name fashionably less Italian.
