Our hotel in Melaka had a beautiful pool and that was just about all that was good at this hotel. From Melaka our journey took us to Putrajaya (Jawi: ڤوتراجاي) is a planned city, located south of Kuala Lumpur, that serves as the federal administrative centre of Malaysia. The seat of government was shifted in 1999 from Kuala Lumpur due to the overcrowding and congestion there. Nevertheless, Kuala Lumpur remains as Malaysia's national capital (as the seat of Parliament) as well as the country's commercial and financial centre. Putrajaya was the brainchild of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad who was in power then. In 2001, Putrajaya was made a Federal Territory, increasing the number of federal territories to three. Kuala Lumpur and Labuan are the other two. Named after the first Malaysian Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra the city is situated within the Multimedia Super Corridor, beside the also newly developed Cyberjaya. The development started in 1995 and today major landmarks are completed and the population is expected to grow in the relatively new city. The "jaya" (जय) part of the city's name means "victory" in Sanskrit. The Seri Wawasan Bridge that looks like a sail boat has a striking style that reminded me of back home of the Calatrava with its cables and appearance. The Putra Mosque tour was too much for me as I just took pictuires from the bridrge. I now regret not going, but at the time I was hurting with lack of sleep and pain in my back. As we drove through Kuala Lumpur expressway system the city skyline had two notable features that of the KL Tower the 5th tallest communication tower in the world and the Petronas Twin Tower the world's tallest twin building. There is a skybdridge on the 41st floor. Our next stop, Royal Selangor, it is a Malaysian pewter manufacturer and retailer, the largest of its type in the world. It is recognized as a Malaysian brand icon. It also helps that it has the Guinness Book of World Records of having the largest tanker.
