This rifle is owned by my friend Ken, a USMC Vietnam veteran. He gave me the privilege of using it to make this video. I am sincerely thankful.

  • @gbmcy Those two words say it all.

  • Didn´t know George Clooney was in to old guns..

  • @SuperMageo Actually George Clooney is for banning firearms. It would be unlikely to see him at a shooting range, and if he were at my range, well... let just say i dont think very highly of the guy...

  • Surprised to see that you're not required to wear eye and ear protection.

  • @bitethedevil Im wearing foam insert eye plugs, but yes, I should have had eye protection.....

  • that is a gorgeous sharps you have there sir

  • Would love to go shooting with you. There really needs to be a 1000 yard range in the Netherlands.

  • This was considered a carbine? I'd hate to try and shoot a rifle.

  • Thanks for the post. This is a beautiful piece. I'd love to see it in person. The rolling block action is a favorite of mine and this piece appears to be in mint condition.

  • Lob them in !!

  • @grayswandir47 As it is your right to do so. But the Sharps comes from a time when tools had to work and also be ascetically pleasing to the senses. From a purely mechanical standpoint, yes the Winchester is the stronger rifle. But the Sharps is lovely and sits in your hand like it was grown there. And has a long history behind it as well. Its a matter of taste I suppose. Sharps forever. I'm just sayin' 0_o

  • @train714 - I disagree. The 1874 Sharps rifle was a major step forward in firearms design but the Winchester 1885 (AKA Winchester High Wall) is a stronger design and self cocking.

  • I have a Shiloh Sharps Long Range Express. Tell the owner to try the 535g Postell or Creedmore style bullets. Set the hammer to half cock before opening or closing the breech. It takes pressure off the firing pin. What kind of powder were you using, it didn't smoke enough for black.
