@MC7283 They didn't develop. They just simplified themselves, depending more on poppy choruses and simple riffing, to appeal to young Metalheads. It is what it is. I can't even count how many times I've heard a Metal head say something like "yeah, when I was young, I really liked In Flames, but as you get older, you're taste evolves". But more so than not, they follow it with "But their older stuff still kicks ass".

Anders answered a question in an interview that said the following regarding their change in style.. for those who whine about them doing different things these days ( which i for one embrace!)
Why? We have all the roots with us, why do we have to go back to the roots? If you’re a band and you say "Ah, we need to go back to the roots", then you lost something along the way, there’s no point. We exist for ten years now and we can't write the same songs again and we don't want to do.

they were so young... and so fantastic! and they still are the best band of the world for me, even if they've changed their musical style. this band has changed the way i see heavy metal and the music! i love them!!!
