Used my iphone 3GS to video tape this. I'm just playing around seeing how all this works. I've enjoyed watching peoples videos showcasing their turntables, this is my main purpose of shooting this video. I just bought this Jane's Addiction album, it was always a favorite of mine, so I've been trying different ways to record and shoot the Rega p3-24 with the Jane's Addiction album. If nothing else, I hope this video helps people looking to buy a Rega turntable to visualize what it looks like and the enjoyment it brings. Also, pick up Jane's Addiction XXX!
The audio was recorded through my system.
Rega P3-24
Groovetracer Reference Sub Platter
Shure m97xe with Jico Needle Upgrade
Parasound Zphone phono pre-amp
Onkyo Receiver
The video was formatted for 16:9 but shot at 4:3 so some of the shots of the album art aren't composed correctly.
That's a good question. I'm very happy I bought it since I feel the subplatter is the weakest part of the Rega p3-24 since it is very light weight. Another issue with the Rega's is accurate speed. Different belt sizes effect the speed. That's why I'd recommend the Music Hall Cruise Control 2.0 which works with the p3-24. I'm still trying it out and weighing if I want to keep it or not, but it does change the sound of the table the most. Buy from a place that has 30 day money back to make sure.
