A Lillooet man whose struggle to return his autistic son to Canada was killed in a tragic logging accident Monday morning. 53 year old Danny Dimm was reunited with his 5 year old son Timber in August after years of legal wrangling with the boy's mother who had taken the boy to Minnesota. Last week CFJC did a story on Dimm's fight to get his son back on BC Medicare so he could start getting much needed autism therapy. Sergeant Fran Bethell of Lillooet RCMP says responders were called to a ranch south of the community Monday morning. She says Dimm and another man were working to clear trees when something went horribly wrong and a heavy piece of equipment fell on Dimm, crushing him. He died instantly. Dimm's Minnesota attorney, Theresa Gerlach, helped Dimm regain custody of his son, and says over the years the two became friends. Gerlach says she was saddened to hear the news, and says she will remember Dimm as someone who always tried to do the right thing for his son. Gerlach says Dimm's sister Jewel, a nurse, has been a great support for Danny, and hopes Timber might be able to remain with her.
