This is a rap we did as an english project for Sophomore Honors English. This rap is about "the Grapes of Wrath" and is MUCH better then the actual book. The song and video will be available for purchase soon =] (if you live near me however you can purchase it immediately)
lyrics:
The Grapes of Wrath, it is a book
But if you give it a closer look
You will see it has a deeper meaning
It is truly about believing
His name is Jim
He once sang hymn
He was a preacher
Of religion he was a teacher
To his God he used to pray
But from religion he did stray
Now his faith he has lost
But losing faith, what is the cost?
He met a man named Tom Joad
Together they travel on the road
To California they must go
Where the juicy oranges grow
Though his faith he does lack
His beliefs are slowly coming back
During this time, the economy was in a rut
It was almost as bad as Steve's old haircut
It was so bad, it was hard to understand
Why god would do this with his hand
In the air the dust did fly
If you weren't careful it'd get in your eye

Vannuch Solo:
My name is Vannuch and I like to rap
I'm on a boat, but i don't need no map
I'm livin' it up on Candlewood lake
I'm a true gangster, I'm not a fake
I'm sittin' around with this story
Your sittin' at home watchin Maury
I'm chillin' on this boat, with my boys
Splashin' around with water toys
Over there is Brendan Cole
He's readin' a book about the Dustbowl
I'm on a boat, sippin' on a cola
I'm sailin' on a boat cuz I'm a high rolla
My favorite class is period three
The teacher Mrs. Dawson is an OG

Jim Casy once was a praya
But he also was a major playa
In the hay
With women he'd lay
They'd do things I cannot say
The women were fine
and so was the wine
Jim Casy always kept their husbands in line

Bobby Solo:
I'm sailin' on a boat, standin' on the deck
Readin' a book by my boi John Steinbeck
He is descriptive, and uses alternating chapters
In his book, real-life he captures
John Steinbeck is a straight up G
Every time I read his books I fill with glee
This book is almost as good as sunny delight
Unlike that piece of crap they call Twilight
John Steinbeck was really slick
All the girls used to suck on his...
LOLIPOP! On the ground
I can't believe what I just found
John Steinbeck was the best
He totally was above the rest
As a child he was a bit of a loner
But every time I read his work I get a real big....
SMILE! On my face
He was a master of words, he was an ace
This is why other countries think Americans are stupid.
We have a bunch a rich white kids driving their parents car, burning a book they never read, acting gangsta. They truly honestly believe its COOL to act stupid like this. They rhyme kindergarten words to a mundane repetitive beat & think its cute.
They are 40 IQ points dumber than their grandparents but think they are smarter. These kids cant compete on a global scale. If this is our future, America is done.

@shwantz3 this is a satire of those kind of kids actually. that is how the majority of our town is and our video was parodying that. think a little before you speak
