how does the half valve help

By allowing additional blow and draw bends to fill in the missing notes on the chromatic scale. This is an alternate approach to overblowing.

I played at the Harlem Jazz Club, The Pipa Club, Moll Oest, A place in Cerdanyola, Kfé Olé in Hospitalit, and a couple of other clubs that I can't remember. Great time and great city!

Yes...I play Seydel 1847s. I also half-valve them in order to fill in the missing notes in the scale.
