Sir George Thalben Ball plays Handel - Organ Concerto No.9 in B-flat ("Hallelujah") Op.7 No.3 with the Philharmonia Orchestra under Walter Susskind on the ill-fated J.J. Binns organ of Kingsway Hall, London. Includes Thalben-Ball's own virtuosic and unabashedly Romantic cadenza. Recorded 1948.
In the words of a 1949 review of this recording: "...we must for a moment look at Dr. Thalben-Ball over our glasses, with pursed lips." What fun! Thanks for posting this wonderful documentary of how things were done in another era.

MY GOD ! a really LARGE orchestra...very intersting these romantic conceptions...manytimes I like to hear these "non barroque" interpretations because they help us to know different points of view in music... they are not my best loved but... I want to to Thank you anyway! :)
